His signature style – flamboyant curls, flowers and vines heavily influenced by the Baroque school – is (of course) glaringly in evidence, but some of the patterns produced by the famously dandy-ish designer might surprise you.
And the price might, too; normally, Llewellyn-Bowen’s wallpaper designs can retail at around £30 a roll. This collection is designed to offer elegance with economy in mind, and his collection at The Range retails at around £11 a roll.
Which all means it’s an opportunity not to be missed if you’re a savvy decorator with a bold sense of style, or you fancy adding a sparkle of wit to a corner of your home.
Baroque on rolls: unique, fun home wallpapers
If you’ve seen any of Llewelyn-Bowen’s other design collaborations, you’ll expect the gorgeously swirling garden-inspired repetitions of his Harem Tulips and Paradise Garden patterns.
But he’s had a bit of fun with his reputation for flamboyance and flair; look a little closer at the Sinbad range (available in urban grey, silver white and in-your-face ink blue) and you will see that the swirling, old-fashioned columns are actually constructed from birds, butterflies, hearts and stars.
Described as ‘a new twist on classic damask’, it’s a playful but discreet nod to Llewelyn-Bowen’s irreverently luxurious style; it would give diners a double-take in a cosy living room, or make a stunning feature wall next to a stair case.
Fancy something slightly more understated?
As well as the bold, bright and unabashed flourishes that his followers know and love, there are also subtler patterns.
The Gloriental Limestone wallpaper (shown left) also comes in an low key grey, while the ‘Harem Tulips’ print shown in bold powder blue also comes in a warm but neutral gold and cream, or modern silver white. His Portego collection (available in Marble White, Silver Grey and Limestone) has a slight stripe to add texture and interest to any room without overwhelming the décor.
So if you want your walls to take centre stage or you’re looking to enrich your room with a warm (but far from boring) wallpaper, it’s the perfect collection for your home. For a closer look at Llewelyn-Bowen’s designs, visit The Range’s home wallpaper section on their site.
