The 1924-built facility will be equipped with synthetic turf, and lighting fixtures following the makeover. There will also be creation of locker rooms, concession area, press box, as well as storage and parking space as part of the project.

Work will further involve creation of public restrooms along with installation of upgraded seating facilities. The new seats will have a capacity to house 7,000 spectators.

A sum of nearly $1.7 million has already been raised for the refurbishment works with funds of $1 million contributed by the city school board. The city school board fund has been procured via the sale of bonds as part of the Ohio School Facilities Commission project to reconstruct school buildings.

The project is due to begin by April 2012 and be completed by mid-August 2012.
