The Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club Hotel first opened in 1925 and is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. Post-renovation, the hotel features a private marina, 18-hole golf course and 12-court tennis complex.

The hotel has placed a special emphasis on the design of carpets for the main spaces. The Grand ballroom has been carpeted in luxurious Axminster from The Netherlands-based DESSO, which took over 20 days and nights. It can accommodate up to 500 guests.

The design challenge that the DESSO designers faced was involved in recreating a modern carpet theme that would also reflect the hotel’s historic past. The DESSO designers worked closely with the Dallas office of US-based design firm Leo A Daly, perfecting the pattern and colorways. It took over 500 hours to design the carpet.

The ballroom has also been illuminated by an exclusive Dale Chihuly-designed chandelier, made-up of 750 silver and amber glass pieces in a cone-shaped formation.

The hotel takes its name form oil tycoon Aymer Vinoy Laughner, who built it in 1925. It was originally completed for $3 million in just 10 months. The hotel offers great views of Tampa Bay and blends period opulence with modern luxury, post renovation.
