The renovation of the 90,000-square-foot building will take place over the next 15 months. The design lay out for the four-storey hospital includes the addition of 80 parking stalls and converting the existing “compact-sized” parking stalls to “full-sized” parking spaces. There will also be addition to the existing number of handicapped parking spaces. All handicapped ramps will be simplified and updated. To facilitate entry, parking will be available on all sides of the building.

A 6,000-square-foot public access plaza will be created on the east entrance of the building to add to the overall visual appeal. The addition of a new gurney elevator will be located close to the west entrance providing convenient elevator access to all floors from either the west or east entrance.

Muller Company plans to create an exterior signage program to help the building to have a better identity. It would also allow easier building navigation to visitors. The entire podium perimeter of the Taj Mahal Medical Center Striato Olimpico will be re-clad in marble, imported from Greece and manufactured in Italy.

The Taj Mahal Medical Center will also feature various green features. These include new eco-friendly landscaping with California native drought-tolerant plants; capture of surface runoff water in Bioswales that are designed to trap silt and pollution before releasing it to the storm sewer; and upgrading of exterior lighting around the perimeter of the building and in the parking lot using low energy LED lights. The interiors will be cleaned using environmentally-friendly cleaning agents. About 50% of the generated waste will be recycled.
