Located in Highgate, north London, the project at the 90-room, grade II star-listed property includes the addition of a new wing and a vast basement complex comprising underground parking, a swimming pool, wine cellars, and a gym.
The project also involves restoration of the interiors and facade of the main house, and demolishing the existing service wing and replacing it with a new Portland stone Orangery linked to the main house by a Doric colonnade. Robert Adam will also renovate a tennis pavilion, pergola, fountain, and pond within an Italianate garden, and two gatehouses.
The property was sold in 2008 for an estimated GBP50 million ($79.7 million) to Elena Baturina, the billionaire wife of the mayor of Moscow. The 1774-built property was enlarged to its current 3,700 square meters in 1913 by Arthur Crosfield, a soap manufacturer from Warrington.
