The Scandinavian Golf Club, located in the beautiful, hilly landscape of the previous Farum military barracks, features a light and sculptural expression. The facility is built of sophisticated materials to ensure a unique balance between the architecture and the surrounding landscape, and features an exclusive nature park and golf course of 2 by 18 holes.

Henning Larsen Architects has aimed to bridge the gap between the traditional American golf club and the functional architecture of Scandinavia. The golf club is a traditional wing house built using rustic materials with large cantilevers and oblique angles. The roof is designed as a sculptural element floating above the plateau, and appears integrated with the hilly landscape, tree crowns and clouds.

The project is distinct for the extensive use of the wood species such as Douglas, Norwegian slate, stone and tombac. All these natural elements, combined with the liberal inflow of daylight through the large windows provide the building with a weighty yet light expression.

The Scandinavian Golf Club won the annual award of the Copenhagen Carpenters’ Guild in 2009 and has now been nominated for the international LEAF Award 2010. Emirates Glass LEAF Award is an international architecture award for innovative design and is awarded by Leading European Architects Forum. The winners will be honoured at the prestigious ceremony on 10 September 2010 in London.
