Located near the community center between Green Lake’s Evans Pool and Green Lake Way in Seattle, the improvement of the Green Lake Park Shade Plaza and Garden, which costs $441,600, is part of the $198.2 million Pro Parks Levy project.
As part of this project, existing asphalt paving has been replaced with new compacted crushed rock pathways and concrete paved focal areas, new seating has been provided, the existing turf has been restored, and the historic arch from Martha Washington School has been restored and relocated.
A Pro Parks Levy project, the Shade Plaza and Garden provides beautiful passive recreational areas, gathering areas, a shade garden and seating near the Green Lake Community Center.
Approved by Seattle voters in 2000, the $198.2 million Pro Parks Levy funded more than 100 projects throughout the city over the last eight years. Projects include improvements to athletic fields, playgrounds, trails and community centers and parks. Funding will also increase green spaces, support Zoo programs and enhance park maintenance.
