The revamp has been designed by Orlando-based firm Jacobs & Associates Incorporation with Fortune Construction serving as the general contractor. The facility will be rebranded as Emerald Villas following the facelift. There will be a fall in the number of units of the complex post upgrades from 444 to 264. The reduction will create space for a new community centre spanning 220,000 square feet. Among the various features of the centre are classrooms, a business office, a resident lounge, a fitness centre and a pool.
The present building exteriors will also undergo an overhaul. Its studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom villa units will now sport new appliances, cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting systems, as well as window treatments. The revamped building will further be fitted with new electrical systems and plumbing fixtures.
The project has been financed through an $8.6 million grant from the Neighborhood Stabilization Plan and State Housing Initiatives Partnership of Orange County. It also received construction funds of $10.5 million in tax-exempt bonds issued via county Housing Finance Authority.
