The new centre is being developed by Contractor Cowlin Construction. It substitutes the former Tresillian House hostel, and the Huggard hostel and day centre and will serve the homeless people of Cardiff. The building will be characterised by three sedum roofs, different external finishes with gardens and an allotment.
The facility will house a suite offering health services. It will also sport a pair of hostels consisting of 44 ensuite bedrooms and 16 overnight emergency beds. Further, it will feature the new Huggard Day Centre as well as training and development facilities.
Funds for the project have been contributed by Cardiff Council, The Welsh Government, Hafod Housing Association, Huggard and the Big Lottery. The facility is due to open by mid-2012.
