Providing the people, faculty and students of California, the best opportunity to share a powerful educational experience, the new faculty townhouse includes two approximately 2,400 square feet, two-storey residential units each with detached two-car garages.
The residential units are designed and built to PassiveHaus requirements, which require energy-efficient detailing specifications and construction strategies to be integrated into the design and construction.
Providing quality, comfort and energy efficiency, the Johnson House has been designed in consultation with the Passive House experts, Integral Impact Inc., based in San Francisco.
Materials used to construct Johnson House add about 10-15% to the cost of conventional construction materials and design. The concept represents today’s highest energy standard, reducing the heating energy consumption of buildings by up to 90%.
Designed under PassiveHaus protocols, the new construction anticipates up to 80% reduction in heating related costs and a significant reduction in other energy related impacts as well.
