Built on the site of a former vacant warehouse on Jamaica Ave., the new 3,800 square-feet facility made from environmentally friendly and recycled materials, is expected to reduce the energy consumption by 50% when compared to other branches.
About half of the construction materials used in the facility were made from recycled products. The bank also recycled 85% of the construction waste. Rooftop solar panels and solar drive-thru canopies are used for the generation of almost 20% of the store’s energy. Photo sensors inside the bank automatically switch indoor lights off, when there is enough daylight.
The landscape is designed with the plants and shrubs which are drought-tolerant, conserving an average of 37,000 gallons of potable water each year. The asphalt used in the bank’s parking lot is also made of 40% recycled material.
The other sustainable features of the store include insulated glass with a low e- coating for balanced, temperate environment, sensors for lighting control, water efficient plumbing fixtures and walk-off mats and air filters. The green cleaning products will be used to maintain the store.
The exterior walls and glazing of the store keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
