From Monet and Turner to Foster and Rogers, the muddy banks of London’s River Thames have always held artists and architects alike in rapture. This year, Article 25, a charity that manages sustainable architecture projects in areas of extreme poverty and disaster, has taken an area of London that stretches from Blackfriars Bridge to Tower Bridge as the inspiration for its annual 10×10 auction.

The event takes its name from the grid of squares laid over the area, each square divvied up between 100 big-name architects and designers, this year including Renzo Piano, Shigeru Ban, and Terry Farrell as well as artists Antony Gormley, Mark Wallinger and Richard Wilson.

Their task was to create 100 unique pieces of work inspired by the buildings and public space in their designated square, to be sold off at The Shard on 27 November.
