‘My photography is an expression of tranquility in a chaotic world, bringing perspective and equilibrium to the viewer’s soul. Every time I take a photo it’s like the first time a treasure is revealed, a first emotion, be it an empty room or the greatest treasures of the Vatican,’ expounds photographer Massimo Listri. That said, this selection of his work has just made an appearance in the decidedly chaotic context of Milan’s Design Week.

This selection is from a series of images that formed the backdrops to room sets in a stunning display of new and existing interiors products by Moooi in Tortona. Listri, who has been photographing for more than 30 years, has seen his images of the interiors of great houses, palaces and museums around the world and across the centuries published in more than 60 books.

Moooi art director and co-founder Marcel Wanders comments: ‘In a world which is dominated by the new, we like to see our works in the context of eternity. Massimo Listri is the closest ambassador of this eternal heritage.’
