The new INR3 billion ($66 million) international terminal, which was inaugurated on 12 February 2011, will commence international flight operations from 1 March 2011.
The brand new third terminal building spanning 220,000 square feet of space and three aerobridges is designed to handle around 800 passengers per hour.
The terminal, constructed by the operator Airports Authority of India (AAI), is a tubular three-storey structure designed by a consortium of three companies. The terminal features all modern amenities including escalators, elevators and aerobridges.
The terminal is fully-air-conditioned terminal with wi-fi connectivity and is designed to handle the passengers of two A-300s and one Boeing 747 aircraft at the same time.
The new terminal features 30 check-in counters, 18 immigration counters, 18 customs counters, three security checking units and four conveyor belts. The terminal also includes eight aircraft parking bays and eight aerobridges that will provide parking for 600 cars.
