The expansion scheme is designed to insert approximately 63,000 gross square feet for new fan entrances, additional retail spaces and ticketing areas, in addition to a private club space.

Seating for people with disabilities will be improved as part of the renovation project and expanded and renovated concourses will be created to allow for an increase in restrooms, concessions and other fan amenities. All seats throughout the arena will be replaced.

The scheme will be financed by athletic resources. TMP Architecture, in collaboration with Sink Combs Dethlefs, will begin the design work immediately.

The first phase of the $20 million Crisler renovation, which addresses the highest priority infrastructure needs, received green light from the Board of Regents in October 2010.

Crisler Arena has been the location for Michigan athletic events for more than 40 years. It served as the home of the men’s basketball team since the arena was opened in 1967, and the women’s hoops team has used the arena since 1973-74. Crisler Arena has also hosted several wrestling and gymnastics events over the years as well, becoming a second home on campus for those teams.
