Construction on the project commenced in January 2012. The addition spans 35,000 square feet encompassing two floors. The expansion will help the school consolidate all portions of the Department of Health Services Administration into one building. It will also create classrooms for the executive master’s and doctoral programmes.
A significant feature of the project will be the creation of the Executive Learning Centre. The centre will sport a primary classroom with a seat capacity of nearly 100 and will be surrounded by multiple smaller meeting rooms. The facility will also be equipped with the most advanced electronic technology.
Over half of the project funds will be contributed via a $7 million bond passed by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. Work is scheduled to be over by mid-2013.
