Planned and designed by US-based architectural practice Sasaki Associates, Soundview is integrated with a host of sustainable features such as a highly efficient variable-refrigerant-volume heating and cooling system which provides individual temperature control to each suite without bulky ductwork.
Soundview also features an array of sustainable design, construction and operational initiatives. The facility exceeds guidelines for operating energy consumption by virtue of superior building skin materials, windows, insulation and optimal solar orientation. All plants and grasses are drought resistant and do not need irrigation. Through the storm-water management system, the ground surface captures 90% of runoff. The use of low-flow sinks, toilets and showers in the facility will help in reduced water consumption.
The LEED rating system from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
