The building incorporates a host of green features such as use of Albedo concrete roofs which act as a heat repellent by reflecting sunlight and decreasing the amount of heat absorption. The entire facility has also been equipped with automated lighting systems which reap energy cost cuts.
Use of an arborist during the building process adds to the sustainability factor by cutting down tree impact. The facility has also installed water-saving plumbing units which lead to a 39% fall in water usage. Presence of energy-efficient systems helps the facility reduce annual energy expenses by over $100,000. In addition, the building is built on only six acres of a 35-acre site with the rest being left untouched for the Piedmont Forest that is recognised as a wildlife preserve.
