The multi-building complex has been designed by Arlington, Virginia’s Page Southerland Page and developed by Birmingham-based BL Harbert International. The building is located on a 12-acre area of land. It has been adorned with a permanent art collection comprising artistic renderings on various themes by 51 renowned American and Monrovian artists.

The new facility imbibes a host of eco-friendly elements conforming to LEED Gold standards. It includes the embassy’s parking canopy structure which has been equipped with a photovoltaic system. The new embassy also sports high-performance mechanical chillers, as well as a building automation system. Another sustainable feature of the building is its rainwater collection system. The system consists of a tank with a capacity of 264,000 gallons that helps in meeting potable and irrigation water requirements of the facility.
