The new facility will feature an improved layout comprising lower shelving and directional signage on all aisles. The departments visited most frequently by the customers will be aligned. The store will don a bright colour scheme in its interior portion to highlight its merchandise areas. Further, its customer service desk, Site-to-Store pick-up location, and the pharmacy will be integrated in one space near the entryway.
The facility will also employ various green measures. It will install skylights which will harvest daylight, thereby reaping daily energy savings for lighting by up to 75%. It will also be equipped with LED lighting fixtures which will lead to a 70% reduction in energy usage over conventional fluorescent lighting.
The cement in the concrete floor of the store will comprise reclaimed materials while the floor finish will cut down requirement of chemical cleaners. Installation of low-flow toilets and faucets in the restrooms will add to the store’s sustainability by reducing water consumption. The facility will also implement a recycling programme including organic composting and boost purchase of green products.
