The application of iXelium to the stainless steel hobs marks a new and genuinely innovative advance. Due to the application of nanotechnology, Whirlpool’s iXelium acts as a barrier against chemical and mechanical agents, preserving the quality and natural shine of the metal over time. iXelium is effectively anti-ageing and prevents surface tarnishing from stains and yellowing, and additionally reduces signs of scratches, corrosion and marks.
The technology also makes for easy cleaning, as food remains do not stick to the surface. This ensures that a simple wipe with natural, non-aggressive detergents suffices to to restore the perfect look. iXelium’s ‘green’ properties not only save time and effort but also reduce ecological damage compared to standard cleaning products.
Whirlpool has integrated the coated hobs in the new 600mm wide AKT 680/IXL, four-zone model. The hob features front controls for ease of use and convenience and offers the style and technological capabilities of expensively priced models. Dalia Haddad, Whirlpool’s product marketing manager for Built-In, stated that the AKT 680/IXL bears all the classic features of stainless steel gas hobs that most consumers prefer, with the tremendous and unique additional selling point that iXelium reduces consumer cleaning time and effort, along with enhancing the lifetime of the hob substantially.
Other key benefits of the new Whirlpool AKT 680/IXL gas hob are a one-piece iXelium finished stainless steel base plate for resilience, ease of maintenance and longevity; four gas burners, two semi-rapid of 1.65kW, one small burner of 1.0kW and a four-crown wok burner of 3.7kW; front controls for ease of use and convenience; and finished with three robust cast iron matt black pan supports. The dimensions of the product are 41 (H) by 590 (W) by 510 (D) mm.
