The Delta Selection awards, organized by the Association of Industrial Design ADI-FAD, Spain, honors products which stand out because of their innovative character, conceptual originality, design, and manufacturing quality.
The Plof Lamp is designed to be a floor lamp and is characterized by the use of cold cathode tube light. The lamp features a continuous tube of 30 millimeter diameter, bent over itself to create a self-bearing structure. At the bend or at the end of the tube is a transparent methacrylate tube, which contains the cold cathode lamp. It has a total height of 1.80 meters.
The newly introduced cold cathode lighting method has many advantages. This method consumes low level of electricity and does not emit heat. It has a life span of 45,000 hours or 10 years. It can be a good replacement for neon lamps and can do away with the negative feature of high voltage. Cold cathode does not exceed 1,000V.
The transformer and the bulb are integrated inside the metal tube and methacrylate tube. Once the cable is disconnected, the lamp is portable too.
